Red Wings Announce Launch Of High-Speed Wi-Fi At Joe Louis Arena

CBS DETROIT - When the Detroit Red Wings return to Joe Louis Arena on Jan. 31, their fans should be able to call, text and tweet much more successfully than in the past. Along with Olympia Entertainment, the team announced Thursday the upcoming launch of high-speed Wi-Fi at the arena.

"Reliable connectivity is a must as we look to provide an unmatched live game experience for Red Wings fans and guests at other sporting and entertainment events at The Joe," Tom Wilson, president and CEO of Olympia, stated in a press release.

To use the Wi-Fi, guests at Joe Louis will select the network #JLAwifi, agree to terms of use and input their name, email address and zip code.

"Since our testing period began in December, we've had more than 25,000 Red Wings fans log on to the new Wi-Fi network and the response has been overwhelmingly positive," Tod Caflisch, director of information technology for the Red Wings, stated in a press release. "We look forward to seeing those numbers increase during the stretch of the season as fans become more aware of the technology available when they visit The Joe."
