Red Bull Brings Artist Competition To Detroit

By Edward Cardenas

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - The public will get their first view Saturday of projects teams from across the country have been working on for 72 hours as part of Red Bull's creative competition, Creation.

Seven teams have been working in the Recycle Here facilities in Detroit to build a project based on the concept of "reinventing the wheel." Red Bull brought Creation competition to Detroit this year after holding it in Brooklyn for three years.

Event organizers said the concept was kept "vauge" to allow the participants to "find a problem in your community, or society, and make it better."

The teams have been working since 8 a.m. Wednesday using items they brought with them, objects found throughout Detroit and items found at Recycle Here.

Three teams from Detroit are competing against teams from San Diego, Chicago, Minneapolis and Mesa, didn't learn of the topic until the competition began.

The public will be able to view the final creations from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday on Division Street in Eastern Market.
