Recall: Mandarin Oranges Sold At Walgreens May Contain Glass

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - Attention Walgreens shoppers: Jarred mandarin oranges sold at the pharmacy chain are being recalled after at least one person was injured by a piece of glass in the product.

Milky Way International Trading Corp., in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is voluntarily recalling Nice! Brand Mandarin Orange in Light Syrup 8 oz bottles (Item #80895) because they potentially could contain glass.

The affected products, which were distributed to Walgreens stores nationwide, are marked with the following codes (located at either the neck or the lid of the glass bottles):

The company warns that consumers could potentially be cut or injured if the product is ingested. To date there have been three complaints, and one alleged injury reported.

The product has been removed from shelves in Walgreens stores.

Those who have purchased these oranges are urged not to eat them and to call  Milky Way International as soon as possible at 1-562-921-2800 Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST.
