Recall Issued For Frozen Vegetables, Smoothie Kits That Might Contain Listeria

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's time to check your freezer.

Inventure Foods, Inc. has issued a massive recall for several varieties of its Fresh Frozen line of frozen vegetables as well as select varieties of its Jamba "At Home" line of smoothie kits that could possibly be contaminated with Listeria

The dangerous bacteria was detected at the company's Georgia factory -- although the presence of Listeria was not found in any food products. Regardless, the company has issued the recall out of abundance of caution.

To date, there have been no confirmed illnesses linked to consumption of the products, which were sold in Michigan and more than 20 other states.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
