Purdue Loses Guard With Season-Ending Knee Injury
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Purdue guard Sterling Carter will miss the rest of the season with a season-ending knee injury.
Coach Matt Painter issued a statement Monday saying that Carter, a senior, had torn the ACL and medial and lateral menisci in his right knee during Sunday's 76-57 loss at Nebraska. The injury occurred when Carter was making a drive to the basket.
Carter was averaging 4.8 points in 15.1 minutes this season after transferring from Seattle University. He was third on the team in 3-pointers (28) and second in steals (25). Carter's best game came in an 82-64 rout of Indiana when he scored 19 points and was 5 of 6 from 3-point range.
Painter called it "very unfortunate" to see Carter's college career end with an injury.
The Boilermakers (15-12, 5-9 Big Ten) host No. 16 Michigan on Wednesday.
