Protesters Speak Out Against Proposed Mosque In Sterling Heights

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- Protesters were out in full force in Sterling Heights on Saturday.

Police say people gathered in the area of 15 Mile between Mound and Ryan Roads around 11 a.m. in opposition of a potential mosque going up in the area, with more protests scheduled for Sunday.

The American Islamic Community Center plans to build the city's third multi-million dollar structure. The Sterling Heights Planning Commission delayed action at this month's meeting due to concerns.

Officers were present to make sure the scene didn't get out of hand.
