Praying For The Michigan Economy; Mass For Commerce To Be Held In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Catholics will gather in Detroit Wednesday to pray for the health of the Michigan economy.

The Detroit Archdiocese is holding its annual Mass for Commerce.

Spokesperson Joe Kohn says the mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Major Seminary and will be followed by a breakfast.

"The mass for commerce is in its 21st year, this got started quite a while ago, out of a recognition that people in business also share the faith. Every aspect of our lives should be permeated by Christ," said Kohn.

"We have business leaders from any number of industries, anything from automotive to tech firms to more blue-collar type jobs, so basically any type of employee is welcome to come to this mass."

Catholics involved in business are invited to bring their colleagues and business associates to pray for their business; the service will begin at 8 a.m. and Detroit Archbishop Allen Vigneron will preside.
