Power Back On In Downtown Ann Arbor; Almost 2,000 Customers Affected By Outage

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Power has been restored in Ann Arbor, after more than 1,700 customers were in the dark Friday evening for about an hour. An official with DTE Energy said that a small problem at a substation caused the outage, which stretched over much of the downtown area.

A DTE Energy outage map showed the blackout affecting about 2,000 homes and businesses as of 7 p.m.; and there were reports of people stuck in elevators.

There have been no reports of injuries related to the outage. It wasn't immediately clear what caused the outage.

To report downed lines or a power outage to DTE, call 800-477-4747.  You can make a report online or check the DTE outage map, HERE.
