Pound Pals Of Taylor Looks For Donations To Save 2 Rescue Dogs From Heartworm

TAYLOR (WWJ) -- One local animal rescue is turning to the public for help.

Pound Pals of Taylor was one of the non-profit groups that took in homeless and stray animals when the transfer agreement to release dogs from Detroit Animal Control was approved.

But Diane Desrosiers, President of Pound Pals, says two of the five dogs they rescued have heartworm and they don't have the money to save them.

"We were reaching out to different rescues to see if they can take these dogs, but a lot of rescues have helped with animal control and have taken a lot of dogs," Desrosiers said. "We are just looking for help and support in being able to give these animals the treatment they need and hopefully get them out adopted to loving homes."

Without treatment, Avis and Essiance both will not survive the heartworm, Desrosiers said.

"They need treatment to kill the heartworm, and that's a costly treatment," Desrosiers said.
