Possible Serial Rapist On The Loose In Detroit [SUSPECT SKETCH]

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are on the hunt for a possible serial rapist at large in the city.

Police Chief James Craig shared a few details with reporters, Thursday afternoon, as a suspect sketch was released to the public.

"These criminal sexual assaults occurred starting second week of December, the last one occurring early this morning," Craig said. "In terms of the time-frame, it's been between the hours of 12-midnight and 5 o'clock in the morning."

The assailant, police said, used a kitchen knife in his attacks; in one case stabbing his victim.

Two assaults linked to the case happened on Radnor Street, on the city's far east side, and another nearby on Haverhill near Mack Ave. and Moross. All three involved home invasions. Police said a fourth incident that could be connected involved a woman who was attacked while walking at Mack and Cadieux in Grosse Pointe Park.

Craig said all of the assaults happened within a one-mile radius.

"We believe, based on where we are in the investigation, that the suspect is keenly aware of who's in that location and may have been watching," the chief said. "As, so, that's why it's important for people who live in the neighborhood — they see any person suspicious, acting suspiciously — to give us a call so we can go out and check it out."

The suspect is described as a black male, between 17 and 23 years old, with a slight build, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing about 130 to 140 lbs. He has a dark brown complexion, brown eyes, dark brown "smokers lips" and a light, fuzzy mustache.

He had a piercing in his right nostril and was wearing a pair of green flower-shaped earrings, a blue jean jacket over a red hoodie, blue jeans and black and white gym shoes.
