Popcorn Entrepreneur Gets 12-20 Years For Wife's Murder
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ/AP) - A judge has sentenced a metro Detroit man to 12 to 20 years in prison for the murder of his wife.
Judge Peter Maceroni issued the sentenced Thursday to 47-year-old Anthony Webster in Macomb County Circuit Court in Mount Clemens. Webster earlier pleaded no-contest to second-degree murder in the January 2013 killing of his 33-year-old wife, Christina Lazzana-Webster.
After receiving a call asking that someone check on Lazzana-Webster, Eastpointe police officers went to Webster's home in the 23000 block of David Avenue, near Kelly Rd. and Gratiot, where they found her body. She had been shot in the chest.
Police have said the couple, who together owned Big Top Popcorn in Eastpointe, had a history of violent arguments. At a preliminary exam in Feb. 2013, it was alleged that both Webster and his wife were having affairs.
Webster didn't appear in court Thursday.
Webster withdrew his plea last December, but later changed his mind and reinstated the plea.
