Police: Woman Raped By Man Who Entered Home Through Open Window

ALLEN PARK (WWJ) - Police are searching for a man who allegedly broke into a Downriver home and raped a woman in the middle of the night.

Allen Park police say the man apparently climbed through an open window of the home, located near Outer Drive and Southfield Freeway, around 3 a.m. Monday.

Once inside, the suspect sexually assaulted a 35-year-old woman who was home alone, threatening to shoot her if she struggled or tried to call police, according to reports.

The suspect allegedly stole money from the woman's purse before fleeing the scene.

Police say the suspect is a white male in his mid to late 20s, about 5'7" tall with a thin build. He's described as having the strong smell of cigarette smoke.

Investigators say it appears the woman was attacked at random.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 313-386-7800.

Authorities are not giving the exact location of the woman's home to protect her identity.
