Police: Woman, 2-Year-Old Shot After Argument Over Dogs

DETROIT (AP) - Police say a woman and her 2-year-old were shot on Detroit's east side following an argument over neighborhood dogs.

The Detroit News reports police say the 24-year-old and her child were innocent victims in Sunday night's shooting. WDIV-TV reports they were listed in temporary serious condition with wounds to their legs.

Sgt. Cassandra Lewis says a 19-year-old man was arrested. Police a neighbor was trying to get a dog away from the man's pit bull and the man fired shots at the neighbors. Lewis says two other people were shot at but uninjured.

The mother of the 19-year-old says, however, that her son was only defending her from their neighbor's son. No charges have been announced.
