Police: Teen Driver In Critical Condition After Running Stop Sign, Crashing Into Boat Trailer

BEDFORD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- One teen is in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash in Monroe County on Saturday evening.

Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone said the crash happened on Douglas Road at Samaria Road in Bedford Township at around 6:45 p.m. Saturday.

Early details revealed that a 16-year-old Toledo boy, Christian Nagy, was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 northbound along Douglas and ran a stop sign, crashing into a boat trailer pulled by a 2008 Ford F-150 that was being driven by a 58-year-old Monroe man.

Nagy suffered serious injuries and was taken to Promedica Toledo Hospital in critical condition. The other driver, who was not injured in the crash, was released from the scene.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Traffic Services Division. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 734-240-7493.
