Police Sergeant Killed In Motorcycle Crash North Of Ann Arbor

GENOA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A police officer has been killed in an early morning crash in Livingston County.

The Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell and WHMI-FM report that Hamburg Township police Sgt. James Sanderson was riding a motorcycle about 5:45 a.m. Friday when he collided with an SUV in Genoa Township.

Witnesses say Sanderson was thrown from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Sanderson had been a member of the police department since 1994.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Genoa Township is northwest of Detroit.
