Police: Separate Weekend Shootings Leave 6 Dead In Detroit

DETROIT (AP) - Police say several separate weekend shootings in Detroit left six people dead and at least another 15 people wounded.

Detroit police say the shootings happened from Friday through Sunday. Police say the violence includes one person dead and four others wounded Friday night on the city's east side and the fatal shooting of a man Sunday night in southwest Detroit.

Meanwhile, The Detroit News reports a man was found dead Sunday in a car after being cut, bringing the total number of deaths to seven.

The Detroit Free Press reports a 9-year-old boy found a handgun in a neighbor's yard and accidentally shot himself while showing the gun to his mother. Williams says the shooting happened Sunday afternoon on the city's west side. The boy was taken to a hospital.
