'Friendly' Goat Found Tied To Fence Post In Farmington Hills

FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - Police Thursday morning responded to a curious call about a goat in distress.

A passerby contacted police after he or she found the apparently abandoned animal tied to a fence post in a neighborhood the area of 13 Mile and Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills.

The goat is brown in color wish a pink and purple matching collar and leash.  Police said the goat was "in distress" but it appeared to be otherwise in good shape.

Police described the goat as "friendly," leading them to believe it could possibly be a family pet or from a petting farm.  Sgt. Bonnie Unruh said when they untied the animal, it walked well on the leash like a dog.

Investigators loaded the goat into a police vehicle for the drive to Oakland County Animal Control, where it was being cared for Friday.

Police said the goat's owner was located shortly after the story hit the media Friday afternoon.
