Police Seek Help After Small White Dog Thrown From Moving Vehicle
Mount Clemens (CBS Detroit) A fluffy white dog tossed carelessly or cruelly from the window of a dark colored hatchback is the subject of an investigation by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office and the Macomb County Animal Division.
They're seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect.
Police say at about 3:45 p.m. March 1, witnesses called 911 after seeing an injured dog on N.B. Gratiot in the City of Mt. Clemens. It was originally believed that the dog was struck by a passing car.
Upon investigating the matter however, Macomb County Animal Control Officers determined that the dog was thrown out of the passenger-side window of a dark-colored, hatch-back style sedan.
The hatch-back was in the center lane and travelling northbound on N.B. Gratiot between Kibbee and Robertson when the incident occurred.
Macomb Sheriff Detectives were able to examine surveillance cameras in-and-around the Mt. Clemens Post Office. While the cameras were not pointed in a direction to see the dog being thrown from the vehicle, the camera did get images of the vehicle as it pulled into the Post Office parking lot.
While in the Post Office, the car is temporarily off-camera, however, the car is spotted again, on traffic cameras as it travels northbound on Gratiot immediately after the incident.
The car can be tracked travelling northbound through the traffic lights on Hall Road.
The Animal Division sought treatment for the injured dog, who is recovering. The 2-year-old shitzu suffered a broken pelvic bone and is being cared for by volunteers.
