Police Search For Suspect Who Threw Woman Out Of Vehicle After Alleged Sex Assault

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Police are searching for a 31-year-old Pontiac man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a city park.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said the alleged assault happened around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday at Hawthorne Park, off Telegraph Road just south of Walton Boulevard in Pontiac.

Deputies were initially dispatched to McLaren Hospital after receiving a report about a sexual assault victim seeking medical treatment.

The 40-year-old woman told deputies that she was picked up while walking on Huron Street near Waldo by a man she's acquainted with. She said the man drove her to Hawthorne Park and proceeded to assault her.

Police say the woman told them the suspect threw her out of his vehicle after the assault and sped off. The woman then walked about three-and-a-half miles to McGuire's Motel, where she lives, and her daughter drove her to the hospital for treatment.

The woman was treated at McLaren Hospital and then transported to the START (Safe Therapeutic Assault Response Team) program for a follow-up examination.

Detectives confirmed the suspect's identity and are currently attempting to locate him. His name was not released.

The investigation is continuing.
