Police Search For Missing Elderly Romeo Woman

Anne Burns, of Romeo, missing since Monday, March 24.

ROMEO (WWJ) - Police in Macomb County are hoping the public can help find an elderly woman who has been missing since earlier this week.

Romeo police say 83-year-old Anne Burns was last seen Monday, March 24 and was reported missing on Tuesday after she didn't show up for an afternoon hair appointment.

After being contacted by Burns' sister and niece, police started to trace her last known whereabouts and found that she also missed a tax appointment in Lenox Township that was scheduled for noon Monday.

Burns' relatives told police she has been forgetful in the past, especially when leaving home. Police searched the woman's home, but found no signs of her disappearance or foul play.

Burns is described as approximately 5'1" tall and 120 pounds with reddish-brown hair and glasses.

Investigators say Burns could be driving a light green, four-door 1995 Ford Explorer with Michigan license plate "5J1659."

Anyone with information or who thinks they might have seen Burns is urged to contact police at 586-752-3587.
