Police Search For Masked Robbers Who Hit Macomb County Hotel, Pistol Whipped Clerk

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Police are searching for two masked men who assaulted a clerk while attempting to rob a Macomb County hotel.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. Tuesday at the Super 8 on Van Dyke Avenue just south of 15 Mile Road in Sterling Heights.

According to police, two men armed with guns and wearing masks entered the hotel. One of the suspects jumped over the counter and confronted the clerk, a Sterling Heights woman, while the other stayed in the lobby.

The clerk told police she resisted the suspect, who then struck her in the head with his gun. The suspect checked the desk, but was unable to locate any cash, police said. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.

The clerk had a minor laceration on her head and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers responded to the scene with a K-9 unit, but were unable to track the suspects.

The first suspect is described as a black male with a stocky build, wearing a dark hoodie and tan coat. The second suspect is described as a black male about 6' tall with a stocky build, wearing a black leather coat. Both men were wearing ski masks and gloves.
