DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police say two young girls who apparently sneaked out of their home on the city's west side have been found safe.

Ten-year-old Remy Banks and 13-year-old Mereesha Miller were found Saturday morning after being reported missing earlier from their home in 8400 block of Grandville, in a neighborhood near Evergreen and Joy roads.

Tanganyika Banks told police her daughter, Miller and two other children asked to go outside, but she told them no. A short time later, Tanganyika Banks realized her daughter and Miller were nowhere to be found.

According to police, it appears the girls might have sneaked out a bedroom window. Once they made it out of the house, the girls are believed to have walked in the direction of Joy Road.

Information on their recovery wasn't immediately available.
