Police Release Photos, Video Of Raid On Alleged Multi-City Dog Fighting Ring
INKSTER (WWJ) - Police have released photos and a video taken during a raid on a suspected dog fighting ring that show the deplorable and cramped conditions where more than two dozen dogs were kept.
Michigan State Police executed search warrants Thursday night at two residences in Inkster and Westland after receiving several tips about a possible dog fighting ring.
"We were able to rescue 25 dogs that were used in dog fighting, numerous amounts of different narcotics, including crack-cocaine, heroin and marijuana, $25,000 in dog fighting proceeds and also a large amount of dog fighting equipment," said State Police Lt. Michael Shaw.
Five suspects were taken into custody, and police say more arrests could be possible.
All of the dogs have been turned over to the Michigan Humane Society. They are currently being held as part of the investigation. It's not clear if or when the dogs could possibly be up for adoption.
