Police Questioning Person Of Interest In Murder Of Jeremaine Tilmon

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are questioning a "person of interest" in the shooting death of Jeremaine Tilmon early Thursday morning.

Tilmon is the step father of Davontae Sanford -- the teen who spent years in prison after he was wrongfully jailed in a quadruple murder case.

Rev. W.J. Rideout, founder of Defenders of Truth and Justice, mentored Tilmon and says he had turned his life around and was mentoring other young men through a violence prevention program called, Cease Fire.

"He in turn wanted to show the other youths of our society that's there's a way out," says Rideout. "And there's better than just thugging and gang-banging and selling dope and killing and different things of that nature."

Police say Tilmon's body was discovered by a passerby around 2:30 a.m.lying in the street in the 3600 block of Chatsworth, just north of Mack Avenue.
