Police: Motorcyclist Killed While Trying To Pass Turning Vehicle

LONDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) - Authorities say a 54-year-old motorcyclist was killed when she tried to pass a turning vehicle and ended up crashing.

The accident happened around 3 p.m. Wednesday on Tuttlehill Road near Hoffman Road, in Monroe County's London Township.

Police say a 42-year-old Newport man was driving 2008 Ford Super Duty truck northbound on Tuttlehill Road when he slowed to make a left-hand turn into a private driveway on the west side of the road.

While the man was making the turn, with his turn signal activated, police say Tina Cilc attempted to pass the truck on her 1993 Harley Davidson motorcycle. While making her pass, Clic struck the driver's side of the truck, according to police.

Cilc, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly before 8:30 p.m.

The truck driver was not injured.

Police say speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 734-240-7493.
