Police: Man Crashes Stolen Vehicle Into Dollar Store

HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - Police say a man is on the run after crashing a stolen vehicle into a dollar store in Highland Park.

The incident unfolded early Wednesday morning at the Super Dollar Deal Plus store on Woodward Avenue just north of McNichols Road.

According to police, a man in a stolen vehicle crashed through the front of the store, causing a fire. As the suspect was fleeing the scene, the store's fire suppression system went off and doused the flames with water.

By the time police arrived on the scene, the suspect was nowhere to be found.

Investigators are currently combing the area for the suspect, but were not immediately able to provide his description.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact police at 313-852-7338.
