Police: Livonia Man Shot After Pointing Gun At Officers

LIVONIA, Mich. (AP) - Police in a Detroit suburb say a 23-year-old man sustained a non-life-threatening wound when he was shot by officers after pointing a gun at them.

The Detroit Free Press reports Livionia police say officers shot a 23-year-old man from that town during a traffic stop about 2 a.m. Sunday. Police were responding to a report of a white SUV driving erratically.

Police say an officer stopped the SUV and a second officer arrived as backup. Police say as the officers approached, the driver pointed a long gun at the officers. Police say the officers responded by firing at the driver.

Police say the driver obeyed offices' commands to get out.

Police did not say where on his body the driver was shot. The investigation is continuing.
