Police investigating stabbing at University of Michigan hospital construction site

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - The University of Michigan Police Department is investigating a stabbing at the Michigan Medicine Pavilion hospital construction site. 

The victim's injuries are not life threatening, according to a report from University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security. The suspect and victim are acquainted, the report said. 

The incident happened about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday at the construction site in the 1300 block of East Ann Street, Ann Arbor. This location is north of Palmer Field. 

After the stabbing "with a sharp object," the suspect ran off. 

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact U-M Public Safety and Security at 734-763-1131. 

The D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion, the newest Michigan Medicine hospital facility now under construction, is expected to open in the fall, providing 264 private rooms with a variety of services for adult patients.
