Police Investigate Shooting At Detroit Gas Station Injuring 2 Teens

DETROIT (WWJ) - Scary moments for several students leaving Northwestern High School Wednesday afternoon, in the area of West Grand Blvd. and Grand River.

Detroit Police say a gunman opened fire on a crowd of students, hitting a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy -- the teens are both listed in stable condition at Henry Ford Hospital.

Detroit Police Captain Darrin Szilagyy says they believe the teens were targeted.

Both were transported to the hospital in unknown conditions. Police remain on the scene investigating.

"The kids approached the car - shots rang out from inside the car - striking a 16-year-old female. The group of kids, out of fear, ran westbound and ended up at the Mobile gas station here at Boulevard and Dexter - the black Cadillac pursued the youths up into the parking lot - heard some more shots - when our 17-year-old male victim was struck."

"We do have good video, we do have eyewitness testimony and some other evidence so we hope to solve this case," said Szilagyy, if anyone knows anything call the Tenth or Third Precincts or Crime Stoppers please."

Captain Szilagyy says this shooting stems from an altercation that happened at the school the day before.
