LITTLEFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of man found in the water after a boat was seen circling on a northern Michigan lake.

Emmet County Sheriff Pete Wallin says Friday in a release that residents near Crooked Lake in Littlefield Township saw that the 14-foot Starcraft was unattended about 7 p.m. Thursday.

They took another boat out on the lake and found 67-year-old Robert Lee Kinney. He was taken to shore where paramedics were waiting. He later was pronounced dead.

A cause of death is pending.
