Police Investigate Online Racial Threat Made At Students Of MTU

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Police are investigating a threat made Thursday on social media at Michigan Technological University.

Police say a person anonymously posted on the social media site called Yik Yak, a message board where users can post comments to a specific community.

The post threatens the lives of African Americans. Police are in communication with Yik Yak to try to find out the person behind the message.

Michigan Tech's President, in a statement, says "we are a community and will not tolerate threats to any member of our family."

Details of the threat have not been made public.
