Police Investigate Death Of 2-Month-Old Baby In Oakland County

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Oakland County Sheriff's detectives are investigating the death of a 2-month-old boy.

The baby's mother took him to Doctor's Hospital Urgent Care in Pontiac around 12:40 p.m. Saturday after she found him not breathing in a bassinet. By the time deputies responded to the doctor's office, the baby had been declared dead.

The woman told police that the last time she remembered seeing her child alive was around 6 a.m. that morning. The child had no known medical problems.

Police went to the woman's home on Neome Drive, near Telegraph and Elizabeth Lake roads, where a 19-year-old man was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant. It's unclear whether the man had any involvement in the child's death.

Investigators are now awaiting autopsy results to determine if criminal charges are warranted.
