DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are investigating after a man was found dead on Detroit's west side.

When officers arrived in the area, they found the body of a 59-year-old man lying in tall grass on the side of Wabash Street.

The man's cause of death is unknown at this time, although police say it does not appear to be natural. Officers on the scene said the body has obvious signs of trauma. Other circumstances weren't immediately clear.

Police say they know who the man is, but they are not yet releasing his name.

Nearby neighbors think the man's body might have been dumped in the area, because they didn't see or hear anything out of the ordinary overnight.

The incident remains under investigation.

Residents wait to see if they know the victim. (credit: Mike Campbell/WWJ Newsradio 950)
