Police Investigate After Unknown Projectiles Shatter Car Windows On I-75

INDEPENDENCE TWP. (WWJ) - Michigan State Police detectives are trying to find out if someone has been shooting at cars along I-75 in northern Oakland County.

Three drivers said something hit and shattered their car windows after 3 a.m. Tuesday between Clintonville and Baldwin roads, in the Independence Township area, State Police Lieutenant Mike Shaw,

Shaw said detectives became more concerned after the second call.

"We do get a couple of calls every once in a while about these type of events, due to temperature changes, maybe a pothole in the road, or maybe some road debris that kicked up," said Shaw. "What became concerning was that another individual called about the same time complaining about the same damage to their vehicle."

Evidence technicians were looking over the cars involved later Tuesday, working determine if the projectiles were bullets or something else. Troopers were also at the scene trying to find anything else that may shed light on what hit the cars.

Anyone with information about these incidents or similar incidents in the area are asked to call the MSP Metro Post at 248-584-5740.
