Police ID Trenton Woman Killed In Crash With Fleeing Shoplifting Suspects

BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Authorities have released the name of a 27-year-old woman who was killed when a pair of shoplifting suspects crashed into her vehicle while fleeing police.

Michigan State Police say Nicole Cutting, of Trenton, died Tuesday evening when her car was hit by a truck that was speeding away from police on Dix Highway at Allen Road in Brownstown Township.

The suspects, who were arrested at the crash scene, were trying to escape police after they were allegedly caught shoplifting at a business in Woodhaven.

Police say an officer was pursuing the suspects' black 2005 Ford truck, with the cruiser's lights and siren activated, northbound on Dix-Toledo Road when the truck exited onto Allen Road. Police say the truck disregarded a stop sign and struck Cutting's 2012 Chevy, pushing her vehicle into a brown 2001 Ford and a silver 2001 Ford.

Cutting was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspects, a man and woman, remain in police custody. Police say the driver is being transferred to the Michigan Department of Corrections on a parole violation, but they did not identify which suspect was driving.

An investigation is ongoing.
