Reports: High School Lacrosse Players Allegedly 'Sacrificed' Guinea Pig, Painted Themselves In Blood

GROSSE ILE (WWJ/AP) — A Detroit-area high school won't play lacrosse while authorities investigate allegations that players killed an animal before a game.

Grosse Ile Township police Chief Joseph Porcerelli declined to say how many students were involved or give details about the animal. The alleged incident didn't happen on school grounds.

FOX 2 reports that the animal in question was a guinea pig, which some players allegedly killed before smearing its blood on their faces. One student may have even drank the blood, according to WDIV.

Grosse Ile Superintendent Joanne Lelekatch says the spring lacrosse season is on hold during investigations by police and the school district. She declined further comment, citing the privacy of students.
