Newborn Found By Side Of The Road Recovering In Hospital

NEWAYGO COUNTY (WWJ) - A White Cloud man out walking his dog says he found a newborn baby with an umbilical cord still attached along the side of the road.

Neighbors say the mother, a 14-year-old girl, must have panicked after she gave birth and discarded her baby.

The Detroit Free Press reports the mother and baby are being treated in a Newaygo County hospital and are doing fine.

Police are looking into who the father or the infant might be.

No charges have been filed.
