DETROIT (WWJ) - A search for a missing Detroit woman has come to a tragic end as police link her to a Labor Day accident.

Police say 74-year-old Barbara Williams, who worked as a security guard at the GM Tech Center in Warren, was reported missing by her family last Tuesday when they learned that she hadn't shown up for work for three days.

An investigation revealed that Williams had been killed in a crash near 10 Mile Road and Lasher in Southfield at 3:25 p.m. on Labor Day and was not immediately identified. She died of her injuries at a local hospital a short time later.

Police said Williams was headed southbound on Lahser when her car collided with another vehicle in the 10 Mile intersection. A 75-year-old Southfield woman in the second car was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe one of the two drivers may have run a red light.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video to determine the cause of the accident.
