Police Find Body Of Inkster Man, Missing Since Early Morning Fishing Trip

MONROE (WWJ) - On Sunday, October 25, Stanley Eliot Moore walked toward Lake Erie to fish in the early morning hours and was never seen again.

Moore, 53, from Inkster, was visiting Sterling State Park overnight with family for some fishing and camping and Wednesday night, Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone tells WWJ that the body of Moore was found around 5 p.m. during the ongoing search for the man.

Deputies from the Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit found Moore in about four feet of water and approximately 100 feet from the shoreline at the south end of the campsite area.

The location is a few hundred feet north of the channel where Mr. Moore's fishing gear was found hours after he disappeared.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
