Police Fatally Shoot Knife-Wielding Ann Arbor Woman

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Ann Arbor police say an officer fatally shot a 40-year-old woman after she confronted officers with a knife.

It happened shortly before midnight Sunday at a home in the 2000 block of Winewood, near Liberty and Stadium, where police were responding to a call about a domestic disturbance.

The department said one officer fired, striking the woman, who was armed with a knife. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name wasn't immediately released.

Michigan State police are investigating.

This incident comes about 24 hours after a 27-year-old man was shot and killed by an officer from the Westland police department. Officers said Troy Hart came at them with a hunting knife.
