Police: Drunken Mom At Wedding Lost Car With Child Inside [VIDEO]

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a Gwinnett County woman left her 6-year-old son by himself inside a car near Lake Lanier while she sought out drinks at a wedding party.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office says 41-year-old Gwendolyn C. Truby of Dacula was arrested Sunday after leaving the car in neutral with the keys in the ignition.

News outlets report that Truby became distressed at the wedding and called police, telling them she couldn't find her car or her son.

Deputies found the vehicle on a dirt area leading down to the lake. A child was in the back seat safely sleeping.

Truby is charged with second-degree cruelty to children, reckless conduct and public drunkenness. It is unclear whether she has an attorney.
