Police: Drunk Woman Arrested In Stolen Golf Cart

KALAMAZOO (WWJ/AP) - Kalamazoo police have arrested a woman who they say drove a stolen golf cart while drunk.

The woman was spotted around 8 a.m. Tuesday, driving the golf cart down a city street. Public Safety Officer Ariana Gasca told reporters she thought it was an odd sight in the morning, so she pulled up to the cart to speak with the driver.

Gasca says the 23-year-old Kalamazoo woman told her that a friend had given her the cart to drive. But after a quick check, Gasca found items on the car showing that it likely belonged to a local apartment complex. Dispatch confirmed the cart had been stolen and the woman was arrested.

Once the woman was brought back to the police station for booking, authorities determined she was intoxicated and administered a series of sobriety tests.

The woman, who had two warrants out for her arrest, faces charges including operating while intoxicated, unlawfully driving away a vehicle, driving on a suspended license, and obstruction by disguise. Her name was not released.
