Police: Dog Stolen From Outside Kroger As Owner Was Shopping

BLOOMFIELD TWP. (WWJ) - Police are searching for whoever stole a dog from outside of an Oakland County grocery store while its owner was shopping inside.

Police say the incident occurred around 7 p.m. Monday at the Kroger store on Telegraph Road, just south of Long Lake Road in Bloomfield Township.

"Kodi" was stolen from outside Kroger in Bloomfield Township on Dec. 14. (police handout)

The owner told police that he walked up to the store with his 10-month-old Siberian Husky, Kodi, and tied his leash to a pole out front while he went inside. After shopping for about 20 minutes, the owner returned to where he left Kodi but the dog was nowhere in sight.

Witnesses told the owner that a white man in his 20s driving a Jeep Wrangler took Kodi and left the area. Police responded to the scene but were unable to locate the suspect's vehicle.

Investigators are now trying to identify the man and locate Kodi. Anyone who has information is urged to contact police at 248-433-7755.
