Police Chase Results In Crash That Shuts Down I-94

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A portion of westbound I-94 in Detroit was closed for several hours after a police chase resulted in a crash on Friday night.

Michigan State Police and Detroit Police officers pursued a car in the area of Conner and Gratiot for a traffic offense at around 10:15 p.m. The pursuit continued onto westbound I-94 where the suspect vehicle crashed into a second vehicle near Van Dyke.

The driver fled from the scene and was later apprehended after police dogs tracked him from the scene. He struggled briefly with police before being tasered.

The second driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The freeway reopened early Saturday morning.
