Police Capture Prisoner Who Escaped Custody In Macomb County

NEW BALTIMORE, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a man wanted on an arrest warrant who escaped custody last month while being transferred from one police agency to another in metro Detroit has been captured.

Marysville police say 21-year-old Nicholas Mosher was arrested Tuesday in New Baltimore.

Police say he ran into a wooded area Sept. 24. Clinton Township officers were turning him over to Marysville police when he broke free and escaped.

Police say he wasn't wearing handcuffs at the time of the transfer since he had a cast on his arm.

Authorities say Mosher had been convicted of domestic violence and aggravated assault of a police officer, and failed to appear for sentencing in July.

It took some time to determine Mosher's true identity after he fled from officers, police said, because he'd initially given them a false name.
