Police: Body Found In Submerged Car Was There For Days

ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) - Authorities say a body inside a car that was floating in a St. Clair Shores canal was submerged for days before it was discovered.

Police said the car was found Wednesday afternoon in a vacant boat well near the marina behind the Shore Club condominiums, a private gated community at 9 Mile Road and Jefferson Avenue. A 22-year-old woman was found inside.

Lt. Joe Heythaler said it appears the vehicle and the woman have been in the lake for two to three days, but were only discovered after a call from a resident. At this point, investigators aren't sure if the vehicle ended up in the water accidentally or if it was deliberately driven in.

Police have not yet released the woman's name, but family members identified her as Acadia Cadotte, of Clinton Township. Cadotte's mother Lisa wrote in a Facebook post that her daughter had been missing since Thursday, March 3.

"We had been searching for her since last Friday with no luck," Lisa Cadotte said. "Please pray for me and my family."

A graduate of Adlai Stevenson High School in Sterling Heights, Acadia Cadotte was a radiology aide at Beaumont Health Systems in Troy.

The Medical Examiner is working to determine a cause of death.
