Police: Bloomfield Hills Homeowner Shot By Man Claiming To Be Cop

BLOOMFIELD HILLS (WWJ) - A Bloomfield Hills man is hospitalized after police say he was shot in his own home by a man claiming to be a police officer.

Bloomfield Hills Police say it happened just before midnight, Wednesday, in the 200 block of Woodwind Dr., near Lahser and Square Lake Rd.

The suspect allegedly knocked on the victim's door and said he was a police officer, and asked to come in.  When the homeowner refused to let him in and threatened to call police, the suspect fired shots through the door, striking him several times.

Witnesses told police the suspect fled in a dark-colored vehicle.  He was still at large on Thursday.

The victim was reported in stable condition, being treated for gunshot wounds on Thursday.

There were no details immediately available about the suspect and victim's has not been released while the investigation continues.
