Police Arrest Man With Loaded Gun At Courthouse, Find More Weapons In Vehicle

TROY (WWJ) - Police have arrested a Clinton Township man who apparently tried to bring a loaded handgun into the District Court in Troy.

Investigators say the 9mm gun was found around 1:45 p.m. Monday inside a briefcase that was placed on the courthouse X-ray machine during a routine screening process. The briefcase belonged to a 47-year-old man who was scheduled to appear on a charge of driving while license suspended.

After discovering the gun, deputies took the man into custody for carrying a concealed weapon into a courthouse without a concealed pistol license.

Police say a subsequent search of the man's vehicle uncovered two additional handguns, a .45 caliber Glock and .45 caliber H&K, which were seized by deputies.

The man was lodged in the Oakland County Jail, pending charges. His name was not released.
