Pistons Introduce Bower As New GM

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Stan Van Gundy wants personnel decisions to be a collaborative process for Detroit's new front office.

The Pistons introduced general manager Jeff Bower on Wednesday, and he'll be working with Van Gundy as the Pistons try to take a step forward after missing the playoffs the last five seasons. Van Gundy was hired last month as Detroit's coach and team president, so he'll have control on both the coaching and management sides.

While introducing Bower, Van Gundy said too much is made of who has the final say on personnel matters. He says he expects he and Bower will be able to work together and make decisions.

Bower was the coach at Marist College last season. He's been a general manager and coach in the NBA with New Orleans.
