Pilot Injured In Small Plane Crash East Of Windsor

WINDSOR (WWJ) - One person was hurt in plane crash in southern Ontario Friday morning.

Constable Renee Cowell of the Chatham-Kent Police Service said the plane went down just east of the Chatham-Kent Airport in Chatham.

"The lone occupant, the pilot, has been transported to a local hospital with what's believed to be non-life-threatening injuries," Cowell told WWJ Newsradio 950.

Emergency crews were on the scene, about an hour east of Windsor.

Investigators haven't said if the plane has taken off from the Chatham-Kent Airport or was about to land there when it went down. There were no details available about what might have caused the crash. An investigation is underway.

The pilot's name has not been released.
